Lilly

As one of the founders of lesbiankamasutra I would like to introduce myself:
My name is Lilly Glück and I work in the media of film and photography. I’ve lived in different parts of Europe all of my life and my love life has been exclusively lesbian since I was twenty-two.

As another creator of lesbiankamasutra I also would like to introduce myself.
My name is Rose Black and I am an artist. I have lived in different parts of Europe and also the U.S.A. I am of course a lesbian.

My name is Lorenza Brown and I worked with Lilly and Rose since the very beginning of LKS. I am a web-designer, programmer and musician. I am creating and looking after the backbone of LKS. I am from London and live now in Denmark with my wife and son.

Hello women of the world!

The idea to create a sex site for lesbians evolved from an original idea to publish a photographic book with texts about lesbian sexuality. Although we are passionate about photography, we felt quite critical about it; until then we had considered lesbian sexuality to be an intimate, private matter between women. We are exposed to exploitation in the heterosexual pornographic industry and we found it hard to imagine ‘pornography’ without exploitation.

We realised that we needed to find a visual language, which is able to convey our full respect of the individual. We had to rethink sex represented in photographs since it would make us feel awful to produce just another facet of exploitative pornography. On the other hand we had to admit to ourselves that we would like to look at photographs and watch videos about lesbian sex without embarrassment or disgust, but pleasure.

Are we not flooded with heterosexual imagery predominately made for male desire and mostly from a mans point of view? We considered it a great shame that there is an extremely small selection of good sexy lesbian erotic photography made by and for women. This situation has influenced our own sexuality when our sexual fantasies borrow iconographic loans from heterosexual imagery.

Visual sexual stimulation whether in fantasy or in a real life situation or when looking at a picture ultimately heightens our own sexual experience. Women might be in the habit of using heterosexual imagery to stimulate themselves, partly because there are not enough lesbian erotic images accessible.

We do not suggest that women and lesbians should hesitate to use heterosexual or male imagery for stimulation, Lesbian Kama Sutra however shall focus on lesbian sexuality from a womans point of view. Undoubtedly we will take some time to develop the concept but hope you will travel this road with us by communicating your valuable critical feedback. There are lists of recommended techniques to do with slapping, scratching, tickling, kissing and biting and many rituals before and after lovemaking. There are also lists of different kinds of love and attraction and varying states of lust, and love sickness, acceptable and unacceptable levels of betrayal.

There is an original Kama Sutra for gay men and their eunuchs and if women were financially independent we are sure there would be a Kama Sutra for lesbians also, apart from this, nothing in Hindu society concerning sexuality is denied in the original Kama Sutra. In Hinduism sex is almost sacramental, essential to life and therefore worthy of serious study. Pleasures said Vatsyayana are "…as necessary as for the well being of the body as food, are consequently equally required."

We hope to create the first lesbian Kama Sutra that achieves this sense of freedom of expression and so avoid the present day exploitative sex industry. What is lesbian kama sutra?

We are borrowing the basic concept of the original Kama Sutra written by the Hindu sage, Vatsyayana two thousand four hundred years ago. This was translated into English by Sir Richard Burton in1883 and published by Hamlyn 1966. The Kama Sutra is an analytical study of the principles of sensual and sexual pleasure.

… "Kama is the enjoyment of appropriate objects using the fives senses of hearing, feeling, seeing, tasting and smelling, assisted by the mind together with the soul. The ingredient in this is a peculiar contact between the organ of sense and it’s object, and the consciousness of pleasure, which arises from that contact, is called Kama… This Kama is to be learnt from the Kama Sutra (aphorisms on love) and from the practice of citizens."
